Dear Members of the UMBC Community,
UMBC will be hosting an open meeting with artist Volkan Alkanoglu to present his artconcept for the installation at the Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Building (ILSB) onWednesday, March 7, 2018, 12 - 1 p.m. in ITE 104. All members of the campus community are welcome to attend.
During the presentation, Mr. Alkanoglu will share conceptual artwork for the planned publicart installation for the ILSB. Participants will also learn more about the artist's process in developing a design based on the valuable feedback collected from the UMBC community during the planning process.
The open meeting follows an open forum held in October 2017 in which community members shared thoughts on UMBC's culture of inclusive excellence and intellectual rigor to help inform the artist's design.
Installation of the artwork is tentatively scheduled for May 2019. The ILSB is slated to open to the public in fall 2019.
