Celebration of Life for Glenn Cook
As many of you already know, UMBC lost a dear friend and colleague with the passing of Glenn Cook on July 18.
Glenn was a supervisor in the Facilities Management Landscape and Grounds Shop and had been a member of the UMBC family for over 26 years. He was responsible for the management of all campus waste, recycling and bulk removals, which means he kept us all clean, tidy and environmentally friendly. He arranged waste pick-ups in small and large quantities such as Move-out Day at Residential Life, Electronic Recycling Day, planting trees, removing trees that fell, snow removal, supporting the Office of Sustainability with recycling, E-Cycling and compost collection. Glenn also helped at Retriever Essentials and built the Annual Homecoming Bonfire.
Due to the nature of his work, Glenn had friends all over campus. His open personality, friendly smile and unique view of the world made him a welcome visitor to any department. He will be greatly missed.
To remember and honor Glenn, Facilities Management will host a Celebration of Life on Monday, September 21, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the UC Ballroom. Please plan to join us and share your memories of Glenn.
Thank you,
John Zahor
